The Temple of Heaven was first built in the 18th year of the Yongle reign of the Ming Dynasty (1420). It is a typical temple and a place where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshipped the gods of heaven and earth and prayed for a bountiful harvest of grains. The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests is commonly known as the Liang free Hall. The entire building does not require large beams, long purlins, or iron nails, but relies entirely on twenty-eight Optimus Prime columns and numerous beams, wooden beams, rafters, supports, and mortises to connect them together
